Daughter…Bundle of Happiness. .1

After a hectic and CORONA feared day I came back from the office. Without talking or taking her in arms, I directly went to the bathroom as a safety/precaution , nowadays due to CORONA it is recommended you must have a bath after returning from outside.

It is summer days and after 1 hour travelling, I was feeling thirsty but as a precaution preferred not to touch a glass of water, before bath. After the bath I felt refreshed and better, next I was expecting a glass of cold water to drink for feeling better.

She has been waiting for me since morning and looking for me from the moment I returned home. She was expecting, I will talk with her, play with her and pick her up in my arms. But I prefered, first to dry myself with a towel and wear cloth, she came to a bedroom where I was getting ready.

She is only 20 months old, hardly listens and behaves as per our instructions or what we say. Still, to keep her engaged so that I must get ready soon and play with her, I just asked her “Aarna ja mala pinyakarita pani aan (Aarna bring a glass of drinking water for me)”.

I thought she mostly would not react to what I just said and I didn’t expect any reaction from her. But as soon as I asked her for a glass of  water, her first quick reaction was she immediately left the room (I felt she got angry because I asked her to do some work instead of playing with her and that also when she was waiting for me since morning).I continued with my stuff, so that I could lift her in arms, play with her and talk to her.

After 2-3min, she returned to the bedroom with the water bottle.A smile came on my face and I felt happy after looking at the water bottle in her hand.I had known a water bottle contained yesterday night’s water in it, the bottle was kept outside to water a tree and it is hot and difficult to drink in this summer days of 44℃.But I was on top of the world that moment because my 20 months old daughter has shown love and affection for me (I was not expecting from her) and she brought water to drink for me, when I was expecting and needed water to drink. I didn’t want to ignore her affection towards me, so I didn’t think for a second and drank that hot water and looking at this she clapped and smiled affectionately. Suddenly a drop of tear came from my eye.

I realised my daughter is growing and now old enough to listen to us and show her love from her activities. Maybe that’s why people say “betiya bahut jaldi badi ho jati hai aur maa-baap ko pata bhi nahi chalata….” (Girl grow fast and parents don’t know )
